Andy Street West Midland Mayor

Before becoming Mayor, Andy combined a career with John Lewis, Britain’s most successful workers’ co-operative, with a host of high-profile economic development roles, working with local and national government.

Starting on the John Lewis graduate scheme, Andy rose through the ranks to become managing director, overseeing one of the most successful periods in the company’s history.

He was also chair of the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) between 2011 and 2016, helping to build the relationships that have underpinned the economic growth of the region.

Additionally, he has been lead non-executive director for the Department for Communities and Local Government as well as a member of the Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Group.

Outside of work, Andy is passionate about the arts, particularly in the West Midlands, having previously served as vice chairman of Performances Birmingham Limited, which is responsible for running the city’s Symphony and Town Halls.

In June 2015, Andy was awarded the CBE for services to the national economy. He was named ‘Most Admired Leader’ by business magazine, Management Today in 2014 and received the ‘President’s award’ from the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce for his work in the region. He holds three honorary degrees from Birmingham City University, Aston University and the University of Birmingham.

Cllr Gary Ridley - Group Leader

Woodlands Ward / Shadow Cabinet Member for Policy and Leadership
Gary was elected to serve the people of Woodlands Ward in May 2016, with 2016 votes! He's working hard alongside fellow Woodlands Councillors, Peter and Julia for the people of Eastern Green, Allesley Green, Mount Nod, Tile HIll and Bannerbrook Park.

Cllr Allan Andrews - Group Deputy Leader

Earlsdon Ward / Shadow Cabinet Member for Policing and Equalities
Allan was elected to the City Council to represent Earlsdon Ward in May 2008 and was re-elected with an increased majority in 2016. He graduated from the University of Kent in 2005 and worked in Brussels and Strasbourg before taking a position at Rolls-Royce. He was elected Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group in 2013 and re-elected in 2014 and again in 2017. 
He is an active community Councillor and always puts local residents ahead of Party politics. He championed Conservative support to introduce a Living Wage in Coventry and served as a Director of the Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre from 2012 - 2014. He is a former Director of Whitefriars Housing Association.

In 2013, Allan was appointed to the Coventry Police and Crime Board and continues to be the Conservative Spokesman for Policing & Equalities on Coventry City Council. He is a member of the Council's Licensing & Regulatory Committee. 

He has served as governor at Earlsdon Primary School since 2008. In the community, he has led numerous successful campaigns, including the campaign to return the Earlsdon Festival to the heart of the Earlsdon community. He also led multi-agency efforts to combat anti-social behaviour in parts of Styvechale and has developed a strong record of action in the communities he represents.

Cllr Ken Taylor OBE - Association Chairman

Earlsdon Ward / Shadow Cabinet Member for Strategic Finance and Resources
Ken has served Earlsdon Ward since 1986 and was Leader of the City Council from 2004 - 2010, and Leader of the Conservatives in Coventry from 2003 - 2011. He is the Conservative Shadow Cabinet Member for Strategic Finance and Resources. This portfolio includes: Strategic Finance including Budget Setting, External Resources, Operational Finance incl. Revenues and Benefits, Service Transformation, Procurement, Value for Money, Medium Term Financial Strategy, Corporate Service Performance, Policy and Quality, Human Resources, Key Staff Recruitment and Retention, Information Technology, Digital and Customer Services, Health and Safety, Operational Property, Coventry Investment Fund, Pensions.
Ken is married to Mary and has four sons and 7 grandchildren.

Cllr Tim Mayer - Deputy Chairman Political

Westwood Ward/ Shadow Cabinet Member for Adult Services
Promoting positive community and economic growth in his ward and wider city.
Tim moved to Coventry from Birmingham 12 years ago. He completed a pattern making apprenticeship in Brierley Hill before starting a pet and garden business. He moved to Plymouth in 2004 to work in the mobile phone trade and then moved the leisure industry.

Tim is now the Head of Commercial and Digital for Everyone Active. He met his wife in the Warwickshire Health club and settled in Coventry in 2006. He has 3 children. He stool as a Prospective parliamentary candidate (PPC) in Coventry NE 2017. Tim is an active community Councillor and always puts local residents ahead of Party politics. He is currently serving as a Director of the Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre and is on the board of the Belgrade Theatre. In 2016 Tim was appointed to the Digital Task and finish group and is a member of the Council's Licensing & Regulatory Committee.

Pete portfolio includes: Post 16 Education and Training, Schools, Early Years, Libraries, Adult Education, Higher and Further Education (incl. Universities), Skills and employability, Teenage Pregnancies.

Cllr Jaswant Singh Birdi

Bablake Ward

Jaswant was elected to the City Council on 22 May 2014 to represent Bablake Ward. He is a Civil Engineer by profession. In the 2010 General Election, he contested the Coventry North East parliamentary constituency.

Cllr Roger Bailey

Cheylesmore / Shadow Cabinet Member for Community Development.

Roger was elected to serve Cheylesmore Ward in May 2014. He is a Blue Badge Tourist Guide and has a keen interest in Coventry's heritage. His portfolio includes: Archives, Arts, Heritage, Museums, Conservation, Social Enterprise Strategy, Mutuals, Community and Third Sector Relations, City Centre Management, City of Culture Bid, Community Centres, Homelessness, Refugees and Asylum Seekers, Voluntary Sector, Welfare Advice Services, Neighbourhood Services, Housing, Planning.

Cllr Michael Hammon

Earlsdon Ward / Shadow Cabinet Member for Special Projects (City of Culture)

Michael was elected to serve Earlsdon Ward in May 2010, having previously represented the same ward from 1986 - 1995. He will serve as the Deputy Lord Mayor for 2014-15. Michael is a solicitor by profession and has always worked in Coventry.

John Blundell - Coventry Lord Mayor

John was previously the Leader of the Conservative Group between May 2013 and May 2017. He previously served as Cabinet Member for Children, Learning and Young People between 2004 - 2010.
