Conservative councillors have launched a petition to make sure that Coventry continues to be served by three express trains to London every hour. They’ve launched the campaign because a consultation on the future of the West Coast service rail franchise could put this level of service under threat. 

Huge Greenbelt development planned for flooding hotspot

Councillors representing Woodlands ward have raised concerns at the prospect of more new housing on greenbelt land in an area which has repeatedly suffered from heavy flooding. It was recently revealed that plans are afoot to build 200 new homes on Greenbelt land off Broad Lane that straddles the Coventry/ Solihull border.

Two local councillors have welcomed figures showing that unemployment has dropped to its lowest national rate since 2005, with 2.5 million more people across the United Kingdom back in work having the security of a regular pay packet than in 2010.
