Kevin Calls For An Immediate General Election

Labour Government Racked by Infighting as Britain stands at a Crossroads

6th January 2010

Kevin FosterCllr Kevin Foster, Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman for Coventry South, has called for an immediate General Election following increasing divisions within the Labour Party resulting in today's (6th January 2010) dramatic developments.

Former Cabinet Ministers Geoff Hoon and Patricia Hewitt have called for a secret ballot of Labour MPs on the future of Gordon Brown's leadership. Yet Kevin believes there is only one secret ballot that should be held on the future of Gordon Brown and it should involve all of Coventry's voters, not just the two Labour MPs who live in the City.

Kevin said "At a time when most Coventry families are worrying about the future of our economy and the Government finances spiral out of control it's irresponsible to have such a dysfunctional, faction ridden Labour Party running the country".

"Labour MPs now appear more concerned about trying to save their own political skin than the future of our country. We cannot go on like this and the only responsible thing that Gordon Brown can do is call an immediate general election."
